Foundation Grants
The Loudoun Education Foundation’s goal of strengthening the quality of the Loudoun County Public School system is achieved in part through grants to teachers and parent support organizations for innovative academic projects. In awarding grants, the Foundation seeks innovative projects or programs which meet the following criteria:
- Affect as many students as possible and benefit a diverse student group
- Involve students as much as possible
- Supplement and/or enhance the standard curriculum and ordinary teaching methods
- Support a program or project with measurable results
- Are creative and innovative
- Promote inter-classroom, interdisciplinary and/or joint teacher projects
Teacher Grant Program
Background The Board of Trustees of the Loudoun Education Foundation awards teacher grants in the Spring and Fall each year. Primary consideration will be given to proposals that:
- Affect as many students as possible and benefit a diverse student group
- Involve students as much as possible
- Are creative and innovative
- Supplement and/or enhance the standard curriculum and ordinary teaching methods
- Support a program or project with measurable results
- Promote inter-classroom, interdisciplinary and/or joint teacher projects
- Have comprehensive, yet succinct applications
- Preference will be given to proposals that demonstrate support through matching funds, if other grant criteria have been met
Grants Available For each applicant, the maximum grant amount is $500, with no minimum. Two special grants of up to $1,500 each are available during the Spring Application period. In addition, LEF will award $5,500 in grant money to projects that focus on math, science, engineering, and technology. Preference will be given to applications that demonstrate support through matching funds, if other grant criteria have been met.
Application Process Applications must be submitted by the person who will implement the proposed project. Parent Support Group Grant Program
Background The Loudoun Education Foundation is pleased to announce its grant opportunities available to all PTO, PTA and other parent support groups associated with Loudoun County public schools. Grants are awarded each Fall for implementation within the current school year. Primary consideration will be given to proposals that:
- Reward or promote academic achievement
- Supplement or enrich curriculum
- Affect as many students as possible
- Have measurable results
- Benefit a diverse student group
- Are creative and innovative
Grants Available For each applicant, the maximum grant amount is generally $300, with no minimum. Preference will be given to applications that demonstrate support through matching funds.
Application Process Applications must be proposed in the name(s) of the president or other qualifying officer of the PTO, PTA, or other parent support group responsible for implementing the proposed project. The application must be reviewed and signed by the school's principal; however applications submitted by a school administrator or staff person will be disqualified. The due date for Fall 2009 applications will be Monday, October 26, 2009. Fall 2009 application materials:
